College Admission Essay Format
College Admission Essay Format I was herded by result-oriented, fast-paced, technologically-reliant parameters towards psychology and neuroscience (the NIH, a mere 2.11 mile run from my school, is like a beacon on a hill). I was taught that oneâs paramount accomplishment should be specialization. I sit, cradled by the two largest branches of the Newton Pippin Tree, watching the ether. The Green Mountains of Vermont stretch out indefinitely, and from my elevated vantage point, I feel as though we are peers, motionless in solidarity. But a few months ago, I would have considered this an utter waste of time. Finally, I am a strong proponent of hands-on experience for learning what good food looks and tastes like, so cooking is one of my favorite ways to teach the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle. Our society has taught us that delicious food has to make us feel guilty, when that is simply not the case. The best feeling in the world is falling in love with a dish and then learning all the health benefits that it provides the body. My transformation began with my momâs cancer diagnosis. I fully embraced this new eating philosophy to show my support. The host dad Michael was a high school English teacher and the host mom Jennifer (who had me call her âJenâ) taught elementary school. She had recently delivered a baby, so she was still in the hospital when I moved into their house. The Martinez family did almost everything together. A â14â etched on November 15, 2018, marked the first Lakeside Cooking on the Stove Club meeting. What had started as a farcical proposition of mine transformed into a playground where high school classmates and I convene every two weeks to prepare a savory afternoon snack for ourselves. A few months later, a â16â scribbled on February 27, 2019, marked the completion of a fence my Spanish class and I constructed for the dusty soccer field at a small Colombian village. Hard-fought days of mixing cement and transporting supplies had paid off for the affectionate community we had immediately come to love. The Happiness Spreadsheet doesnât only reflect my own thoughts and emotions; it is an illustration of the fulfillment I get from gifting happiness to others. I donât remember a single time that they argued about the games. Afterward, we would gather in the living room and Danielle would play the piano while the rest of us sang hymns. The host mom Shellie was a single mom who had two of her own sons and two Russian daughters that she had adopted. The kids always had something warm to eat, and were always on their best behavior at home and in school. When he reveals each lesson at the end, one after the other, we sense how all these seemingly random events are connected. We realize this writer has been carefully constructing this piece all along; we see the underlying structure. Of course, those 28 months were too short to fully understand all five families, but I learned from and was shaped by each of them. For years, processed snack foods ruled the kitchen kingdom of my household and animal products outnumbered plant-based offerings. The Dirksen family had three kids. They were all different. Danielle liked bitter black coffee, Christian liked energy drinks, and Becca liked sweet lemon tea. Dawn, the host mom didnât like winter, and Mark, the host dad, didnât like summer. Eager to figure out the whole âveganâ thing, the two of us started binge-watching health documentaries such as âWhat the Healthâ and âForks Over Knivesâ. We read all the books by the featured doctors like âThe China Studyâ and âHow Not To Dieâ. I became entranced by the world of nutritional science and how certain foods could help prevent cancer or boost metabolism. Iâve spent most of my life as an anti-vegetable carboholic. In the living room were six or seven huge amplifiers and a gigantic chandelier hung from the high ceiling. At first, the non-stop visits from strangers made me nervous, but soon I got used to them. I remember one night, a couple barged into my room while I was sleeping. My second family was the Martinez family, who were friends of the Watkinsâs. After dinner, we would all play Wii Sports together. I was the king of bowling, and Dawn was the queen of tennis. I donât remember a single time that they argued about the games.Afterward, we would gather in the living room and Danielle would play the piano while the rest of us sang hymns. It would be fair to say that this was all due to Shellieâs upbringing. My room was on the first floor, right in front of Shellieâs hair salon, a small business that she ran out of her home. While translating has been a huge part of my life, a professional translator is not my dream job. I want to be an ambulatory care clinical pharmacist who manages the medication of patients with chronic diseases. In fact, translating is a huge part of the job of a clinical pharmacist. As my qualities as a âtherapistâ and a âtutorâ shaped me into a great translator, I will continue to develop my future as a clinical pharmacist by enhancing and discovering my qualities. In one form or another, I've always been and will be a translator.

How To Write An Effective College Admission Essay
How To Write An Effective College Admission Essay When the value of their work is questioned, they affirm their lack of talent; yet their social position is too valuable to give up, as reflected in the thoughts of the poet Riuchin. When a poet who has met the devil calls Riuchin a talentless artist, he accepts the claim and inwardly agrees that he does not believe in his writing. He understands that the society needs artists like him. Avoiding conformism and pre-set structures lets people see the world in different colors and leads to self-discovery. This novel is a clear reminder that people have potential and must not choose an easy path in life. Each individual must pave their own way to achieve true happiness. The novel also addresses conformism and its effects on society. Documents meant the difference between life and death in Stalinâs regime. This harsh reality that I saw in the novel impressed me. It has made me notice links between the story and my generation. The drive to conform to a standard so as to avoid standing out has become more and more apparent. However, the society depicted in the novel accepts such conformism to urvive, whereas the young generation can take individual freedom for granted. I realized that was what learning should be and that is how I want to learn. At the end of my eighth grade year we moved to Texas and as I was packing, I stumbled upon my copy of Pride and Prejudice. Mediocrity is appreciated since it does not question the status quo. Throughout my high school career we were stuck on these desks, asked to raise our hands to speak, told what was right from wrong, all around a very uninspiring environment. I had no idea how a classroom could be thought-provoking and truly educational until I went to the Summer Academy at St. Johnâs. In the seminars I felt an energy of pure passion, every single person shared this love for learning that I had neverexperienced before. I had never been in a classroom where we were so freely allowed to ask questions. The conformism in the novel is blindly following government orders, not questioning the comical levels of commodity deficits, the lack of freedom of speech, and restrictions on art. The quote from the introduction shows an even bigger tragedy. The words âno documents, no personâ are spoken by Wolandâs right-hand, Koroviev, to Master when he is rescued. Master immediately worries that he will be in trouble if someone finds him with paper proof that he is âsickâ. Art is used as a propaganda tool, and the state controls art through bribery. It is ironic to see artists, whose independence is essential for the creative process, being manipulated by the state through petty materialistic entitlements. Artists here worry more about the size of summer house they will receive for their vacation than their work. It was all bent and worn and it looked longingly at me as if it had been waiting for me. I picked up the book and read it in a single sitting, almost five consecutive hours enraptured by it. I came across Pride and Prejudice at a cheap bookstore, it was all weathered and yellowed and had the dusty scent of a book that was well worn in. I judged the book by its pretty, lavender cover and just had to buy it. The description of art under the regime is one of my favorite aspects of the novel. The artistsâ association, MASSOLIT, depicts how artists operated in the Soviet Union. It impedes creativity and critical thinking, but these are essential in raising questions and seeing beyond the obvious. Instead, my peers choose to follow similar paths of education and career . At an early age they are asked to choose their path for life.

College Essay Advisors
College Essay Advisors As a small child, I did not fully grasp the implications of translation and the issues that arise from recitation. Now, as a student of Latin, I understand the strain of translation. No two translations are ever the same, usually due to the education and bias of the translator. The Dâaulaireâs remain true to the wildly complex myths of Ancient Greece while crafting an accessible book for children. But all of the sympathetic characters are fulfilled and have appeared to live their lives with intention, so their ends are far from tragic. I am tempted to write about a more important book, something a little weightier and more historic, but I feel it would be most appropriate to write about Jane Eyre. Itâs a book thatâs exceptionally significant to me because it has been an exceptional source of comfort. I think it may be the moral certainty we now have about that war. Nazis are evil, we know that now, or at least many of us do, but at the time, the war raged for three years before the United States entered. Even when we finally joined we only declared war on the Nazis in response to their declaration of war on us. Clever minds like Lehrer, Vonnegut, and Heller looked at Americans patting themselves on the back after the war, as if we had won a moral victory. Like Yosarian I think it is important to question my reality, and view what I am told is âcommon senseâ with skepticism. While Clevenger just blindly believed and followed what he was told was patriotic, Yosarian questioned why a bunch of people he didnât know wanted to kill him. The aspect of Clevenger that I identify with is not the blind followership, but followership nonetheless. I may not agree with the goal we pursue or how we try to reach it, but if I am given a job to do I will do it thoroughly and with all my effort. Being given the Sisyphean task of killing our way out of an insurgency, the only response I can have is to work very hard to be sure that the warheads are landing on the right foreheads. The Yosarian in me changes the question from âHow do we succeed? â to âHow do we minimize the loss of civilian and allied life while we inevitably fail? â The Clevenger in me responds to this new question with a sense of patriotic, even divine, duty. The story does not shy away from the dark and confusing. The characters struggle with death and injustice and poverty. The same people who hadnât wanted to fight the Nazis in 1939 or earlier were now congratulating themselves for defeating them. I can see aspects of both Yosarian and Clevenger in myself. Pashtuns are the ethnic group that make up a majority of the fighters in that country and they have a system of core beliefs that make one a Pashtun called Pashtunwali. One aspect of this is Badal, or retribution, essentially meaning that if someone harms or even insults a friend or family member it is your duty as a Pashtun to take revenge, generally by spilling blood. Because of this, for every fighter we kill, we create a whole family of new fighters. This never-ending cycle is the reason Afghans have been fighting almost constantly since 1979. This is why I think that âwarheads on foreheadsâ is strategically counterproductive. I find value in the bookâs happy endings, made more meaningful because their happiness is not derived from objective circumstances, but by the power of each characterâs belief system. At the end of the book, the reader finds St. John is about to die, Mr. Rochester is badly disabled, Helen Burns is long dead, and Jane isnât doing anything particularly worthy of ambition. I once heard art defined as anything that makes its audience feel and react. I like this definition, so Iâll posit that any art that causes a person to feel, greatly, is great. So Iâll make Jane Eyre my great book, as it has caused me to feel greatly solaced. In a well-written book, life-altering challenges and mundane activities alike are transfigured into something of consequence, as if they are part of a grand, unperceivable pattern. I finished re-reading the book in late December and the experience was well timed. This gives me hope that every individual holds ultimate power over her or his own life. They can decide if it is most meaningful to live with dignity, or with kindness, or with passion. Whatever the ultimate outcome, if they have made choices based on their principles, their ending is happy.

6 Tips For Writing A Great University Admissions Essay
6 Tips For Writing A Great University Admissions Essay Return to an anecdote, example, or quotation that you introduced in your introduction, but add further insight that derives from the body of your essay. A conclusion is not merely a summary of your points or a re-statement of your thesis. In a more technical paper, define a term that is possibly unfamiliar to your audience but is central to understanding the essay. Use a brief narrative or anecdote that exemplifies your reason for choosing the topic. In an assignment that encourages personal reflection, you may draw on your own experiences; in a research essay, the narrative may illustrate a common real-world scenario. Give some background information necessary for understanding the essay. If your essay has a thesis, your thesis statement will typically appear at the end of your introduction, even though that is not a hard-and-fast rule. We partner with colleges to bring high quality programs online, at half the cost. The introduction states whatâs at stake, and the body presents the evidence. In the case of an argumentative essay, the evidence might be research. In a more personal essay, it might be made up of the authorâs own experiences. Your thesis statement comes at the end of your introduction. Prior to reading Antigone , I assumed that if I hadnât read every book that pertained to the architecture of US government, I had at least heard of them. Antigone proved this assumption wrong because Antigone itself was a case study in the actual consequences of ideas discussed by political philosophers. In other words, Antigonehumanized the esoteric and function-driven debates Iâd studied last year. Finishing the play, I was ashamed that Iâd harbored such skepticism at the outset of my reading. My experience with Antigone reminds me why I get excited each time I use calculus in physics or art in cooking, and I look forward to a lifetime of making these connections. My application to Wharton is not driven by what propositions await me at the end of two years, but by what I can hope to accomplish during this time that would help make these years last a lifetime. My application is driven by the global impact I can make, and more importantly, the person that I can become in the process. To conclude, I aspire like to leave Wharton not with just a degree, but with the skillset, guidance, and attitude to face whatever life throws at me. Show the reader that you are well aware of the industry you want to be in and make your application a lot more credible. If you are applying to a top-ranked IVY League MBA program, you must be searching for examples of successful MBA Essays. How To Write The Best College Admission Essay
How To Write The Best College Admission Essay This is one reason why a teacher may give an assignment length in words instead of pages - page length can be faked by changing the margins and fonts. If you're asked to submit a paper with single spacing, you will be writing two-and-a-half pages. If you're using 1.5 spacing, it would be around three pages. So, you might be reading this post because youâre hoping to teach note-taking skills, or you might be reading this because youâre hoping to get better at note-taking yourself. Whatever the reason, here are ten tips on to help you and/or your learners become better note-takers. If you are on a personal connection, like at home, you can run an anti-virus scan on your device to make sure it is not infected with malware. For direct speech, one for every time you change speaker . Worse, all three of these answers reveal a lack of understanding of the marketplace in which writers are trying to sell storiesâ"the same marketplace where we agents are selling stories. Finish by making a decision, tell the reader what the answer is. Start with something other than the cliche 'to conclude' or âultimately.â Teachers are tired of hearing those words, and often, they can be left out. Go with âultimatelyâ however if you feel like your conclusion is incomplete without this transitional phrase. If you can, save a nice interesting fact to hit the reader with in the conclusion. Ensure you include the key words for more clarity. Use bullet points and numbered lists to help you keep your notes concise and easily accessible. These include Times New Roman, Arial, Calibri, and Verdana. Many teachers will specify this, too, so be sure to check! Along with these standard formats, you're likely to be assigned a standard font size, too. Get ready to see 12pt written somewhere in your teacher's instructions. Different fonts and different font sizes will affect the number of pages you write. Avoid scribbling everything that is being said word for word. You would be so consumed by copying everything that you wouldnât have the time or brain space to process the information. Instead, listen and then summarise what youâve learnt in your own words. This is your chance to essentially say 'so basically I was right and the previous paragraphs are the proof of it'. Once your topic sentence is written, it's time to turn your notes into sentences to supporting the claim made in your topic sentence. The majority of your body paragraph should be backing up your paragraphâs point with evidence, facts and quotes. At the end of your paragraph, relate back to the question (don't forget your key-words) and make a judgment about this individual point in reference to your thesis. Youâve already determined what your three major points are and which notes/facts should support which points. Itâs a lot less cumbersome to skip a mention of the speaker than to add âsaid Maryâ and âJohn saidâ after every direct quote. So theoretically, you can have a paragraph consisting of one word plus punctuation marks. 1,000 words in direct speech would therefore mean youâd write way more than the five or ten paragraphs our initial guideline suggested. So make sure you know the content and collect your notes -- do whatever you need to prepare. This includes collecting your stationery and paper etc, so that before you know everything you want to write about. and constantly refer to it and use the keywords to show the reader/examiner/your teacher that you are addressing the question. Facts youâve researched that donât quite fit with your argument should be kept in another section -- that will be for your counter-argument. Trust me -- you will get brownie points for addressing these points later in your essay.

The College Essay Timeline
The College Essay Timeline I wrote about living in Milan when I was younger and how it opened my eyes to other perspectives and taught me not to be so quick to judge other people. I didnât edit my essay a lot because I wanted it to sound authentic and like my voice. I remember my sister was leaning on me, and we were driving on the highway. So, I wrote about my love for history and my love for listening to stories. A lot of people say that you have to write down your entire life story in however many words youâre given, but you can highlight one really essential aspect of your identity. Telling a story about that is much more compelling than trying to fit everything in. I continue to self-study with online courses offered on Khan Academy to further exceed expectations. My classmates were behind in their education and far below my grade level, so the teachers focused most of their time on them. I suffered greatly when I switched back into mainstream schooling. Now, it was my classmates who raced through their work. I was thrown, unprepared, into Indiaâs rigorous education system. I struggled with constructing angles and balancing chemical equations. brought me back to the process of rehabbing through injury. My essay was about finding your identity afterward. Donât share anything that doesnât make you sound good, unless you absolutely have to and you can turn it around to show the positive. Sophie grapples with tough issues and shows herself to be eager to learn. She successfully presents herself as a good match for a competitive liberal arts college. I didnât want to go through and replace all the words with fancier words. For my essay, I wrote about being an athlete and finding your way after athletics by applying yourself in school. In eighth grade, I broke my femur, and I wrote about overcoming that. Then in my senior year of high school I tore my UCLs in both hands playing football. Leverage your native culture, traditions, and experiences. If youâre an international applicant, Native American, or otherwise non-traditional student, donât try to âAmericanizeâ or âmainstreamâ your application. The goal is to stand out and not appear to be like all the other applicants. Always think about what information you want colleges to know and use when evaluating your application. I had to work especially hard to make up for the time lost at my cultural school. It was really interesting learning about this history that I wasnât able to learn in America from somebody who was super-knowledgeable and cared a lot about it. Iâm more of a math and numbers guy, and I probably went through three or four ideas before I found this one. For help with your college essay or college guidance, visit or call . You can write conversationally, but the grammar and spelling still need to be correct. And donât solely rely on your computerâs spell-checker. Sophie presents herself as someone who is continually learning, rethinking her convictions and embracing her uncertainty. It's important to note that Sophie does have strong convictions, but she is open-minded enough to challenge them. The essay shows Sophie to be an engaged, thoughtful and questioning community member.
Mit Admissions
Mit Admissions After I finished the exchange student program, I had the option of returning to Korea but I decided to stay in America. I wanted to see new places and meet different people. Since I wasnât an exchange student anymore, I had the freedom--and burden--of finding a new school and host family on my own. I want to study foreign language and linguistics in college because, in short, it is something that I know I will use and develop for the rest of my life. I will never stop traveling, so attaining fluency in foreign languages will only benefit me. I shared my writing at open mics, with friends, and I cried every time. I embraced the pain, the hurt, and eventually, it became the norm. That night, the glow-in-the-dark ball skittered across the ice. As I learned more about the medical world, I became more fascinated with the bodyâs immune responses, specifically, how a body reacts to allergens. This past summer, I took a month-long course on human immunology at Stanford University. I learned about the different mechanisms and cells that our bodies use in order to fight off pathogens. My desire to major in biology in college has been stimulated by my fascination with the human body, its processes, and the desire to find a way to help people with allergies. I hope that one day I can find a way to stop allergic reactions or at least lessen the symptoms, so that children and adults donât have to feel the same fear and bitterness that I felt. For the past three years, I have been starting everyoneâs morning with a bubbly, âGood morning, foxes! â and ending with âHave a marvelous Monday,â âTerrific Tuesdayâ or âPhenomenal Friday! â My adjective-a-day keeps people listening, gives me conversation starters with faculty, and solicits fun suggestions from my friends. 25 therapy sessions, over 40 poems, not a single one didnât mention my mom. Even though I was probably only ten at the time, I wanted to find a way to help kids like me. I wanted to find a solution so that nobody would have to feel the way I did; nobody deserved to feel that pain, fear, and resentment. However, there are moments where the seconds stand still. The iTaylorâs best feature is its built-in optimism. Thanks to my positivity, I was chosen to give the morning announcements freshman year. Now, I am the alarm clock for the 1,428 students of Fox Lane High School. After a few days of thorough investigation, I found the Struiksma family in California. In the years that followed, this experience and my regular visits to my allergy specialist inspired me to become an allergy specialist. My opponent and I, brooms in hand, charged forward. We collided and I banana-peeled, my head taking the brunt of the impact. Stubborn as I was, even with a concussion, I wanted to remain in class and do everything my peers did, but my healing brain protested. My teachers didnât quite know what to do with me, so, no longer confined to a classroom if I didnât want to be, I was in limbo. I began wandering around campus with no company except my thoughts. Occasionally, Zora, my English teacherâs dog, would tag along and weâd walk for miles in each other's silent company. Other times, I found myself pruning the orchard, feeding the schoolâs wood furnaces, or my new favorite activity, splitting wood. Throughout those days, I created a new-found sense of home in my head. An admission essay is a kind of essay that contains studentâs personal statements and his or her vision of an exact college. It includes studentâs purposes, reasons to enter the college, achievements they aspire to fulfill there, etc. The task of this essay is to show motivation and inspiration of a student who is applying for a course and persuade the authority of an institution that they will be worthy students. When you submit your essay, remember to include your name, contact information, and ID number if your college provided one, especially if you send it to a general admission email account. Nothing is worse than trying to match an application essay with no name (or, worse, an email address such as ) to a file. Make sure to keep copies of what you sent to which schools and whenâ"and follow up on them! However, this format may vary depending on your university of choice or the course you intend to pursue, as will be explained below. Every year, the path to college is paved with more roadblocks. Increasing applications from the U.S. and abroad mean that universities across the country are rewarded with an even more elite pool of candidates.

6 Tips For Writing A Great University Admissions Essay Each year I had a two hour seminar course every day, in which half of the grade is based on discussion, and the other half is on papers. This has given me unique experience both in practice with writing analytical papers on a text, as well as practice with reading and discussing a text in a deeper way. This experience will not only be beneficial to me in discussion, but will hopefully raise the quality of a seminar for the class as a whole. The small enrollment size of as well as the overall approach to education makes St. Johnâs the ideal place for me to extend my positive experience of high school into the college setting. Merriam-Webster defines satire as âtrenchant wit, irony, or sarcasm used to expose and discredit vice or folly.â Catch-22 clearly fits within this definition. However, I find this definition lacking, good satire should hold up a fun-house mirror to society to accentuate its problems and perhaps offer hope for the future. Unable to take this beloved course a second time, I chose my senior classes with more than a touch of melancholy. I was skeptical that even the most appealing humanities class, AP Literature, would be anything but anticlimactic by comparison. Iâd become so accustomed to reading the function-focused writings of Locke, Rousseau, Madison, Thoreau, that I found it difficult to see âliteratureâ as anything more than mere stories. I wanted substance that I could actually do something with, and I didnât expect to find it in AP Lit. When I think about my principles, I think about how I aspire to the humility of Helen Burns and the resolution of Jane Eyre and the stoicism of St. John. But more than anything, I would like to live my life thoughtfully. When I think back, my favorite memories and my moments of greatest esteem are not those when I was victorious, but when I was thoughtful. I treasure the philosophical debates Iâve had with friends, the snow days spent reading in bed, the essays I labored over until they were a source of pride. When I was a freshman in high school, The Colbert Report debuted. Attending a religious school in rural Missouri, most of the faculty and students were rather conservative. I know too many people who are content with limited knowledge and are discontent with limited possessions. I want to expose myself to as many ideas and viewpoints as possible, and I want to be more than a consumer. Maybe not, but I loved the rules, the structure, and the big questions that surrounded organizing a government. I thought about these things constantlyâ"while brushing my teeth, doing chores, and driving to school. Any pessimist can simply expose and discredit vice and folly. Even calling something âvice or âfollyâ discredits it. To make a reader care, an author must place an earnest heart within their satire and at least hint that we can do better. This would place satire in the realm of speculative fiction, the genre that includes science fiction and fantasy. St Johnâs advertises itself as the school for readers and thinkers, people who want more than a degree. I know too many people whose only hope for college is to earn a diploma, and if they can do it without learning or growing, even better. We have put up walls around ourselves and entrenched our ideas, ready for war. Satire is an ideological Trojan Horse, and, when used well, a powerful sneak attack on ignorance. My senior year, my class was assigned Kafkaâs Metamorphosis. My peers neglected the reading, doing only what they had to do to maintain decent grades. I came to class having read the story and enjoyed it. They werenât stupid; they knew the joke was on them, but it was funny enough that they watched the show and read the books. It certainly wasnât enough to convince them to abandon their political identities, but it did have them absorbing ideas that they wouldnât have entertained for a second if those ideas hadnât been couched in wit. With the increasing division caused by social mediaâs ideological bubbles, satire has become a necessary means to provoke thought and conversation outside of oneâs normal exposure. I want to spend the rest of my life learning as much I can, because getting a diploma without expanding your mind is like saving a receipt for something you donât own. I know too many people who want to silence their opponents instead of understanding them. I want a safe space for inquiry, not a safe space for ignorance.

Five Tips To Craft Your College Admission Essay
Five Tips To Craft Your College Admission Essay I want to spend the rest of my life becoming a better reader, and just maybe, becoming a better person because of it. This is a perfectly acceptable way to read books for fun, but it is not way to enjoy a truly great novel. When I undertook the task ofLes MiserablesI thought that I had prepared myself. Essay on The March on Washington - August 28, 1963
The March on Washington - August 28, 1963 One hundred years after the Emancipation Proclamation was written, African Americans were still fighting for equal rights in every day life. The first real success of this movement did not come until the Brown vs. Board of Education decision in 1954 which was followed by many boycotts and protests. The largest of these protests, the March on Washington, was held on August 28, 1963 ââ¬Å"for jobs and freedomâ⬠(March on Washington 11). And in winning our freedom, we will so appeal to your heart and conscience, that we will win you in the processâ⬠(ââ¬Å"Negro Protest Movementâ⬠507). This statement by King Jr. describes his plans of further nonviolent protesting against ââ¬Å"unjust lawsâ⬠to convince others of the civil rights movementââ¬â¢s cause.
